MOYSHE
MINKUS (b. April 25, 1891)
He was born in Pulav (Pulawy),
Lublin district, Poland. He began
writing early in life. He contributed to
the daily newspaper Nayes (News) in
Warsaw (1912). In 1911 his first book of
stories appeared in print: Altvarg,
ertseylungen (Old clothes, stories) (Warsaw: Gitlin). He later also wrote works of drama, among
them: Dervaksene (The adult), a drama
in three acts (Warsaw, 1919), 81 pp.; Dos
misfarshtendenish (The misunderstanding), a drama in three acts (Warsaw,
1920), 70 pp.; and Ver iz der merder?
(Who is the murderer?), a play in four acts (Warsaw, 1920), 74 pp. He later made his way to the United States. He was last living in New York. He had prepared for publication a volume of
aphorisms in English.
