YITSKHOK-YOYSEF ZILBERBERG

YITSKHOK-YOYSEF ZILBERBERG (ca. 1906-1942)
            He was born in Warsaw, into a Hassidic family.  He studied in religious primary school, yeshivas, and received rabbinical ordination.  From his youth he was a leader in Agudat Yisrael in Poland.  He was later rabbi in Nashelsk (Nasielsk), Warsaw district.  He author several religious works with (some) Yiddish text, among them: Atse zayit (Olive trees), 2 parts (Piotrków, 1923-1929), 124 pp.; Alehu raanan, sheelot uteshuvot (Its foliage luxuriant, questions and answers), sermons in Hebrew and Yiddish (Warsaw, 1936), 65 pp.; Vayaan yosef (And Joseph answered), on Jewish affairs and community matters (Warsaw, 1936), 80 pp.  He was tortured by the Nazis in Nashelsk during the liquidation of the ghetto.
